 nemrég,januárban björk a Uniceffel és a Banda Acehhel ment vissza a 2004es tsounami helyszínére,hogy ismét tegyenek valamit a javulás érdekében.
élelemmel,ruhákkal,játékokkal,egyéb fontos eszközökkel,természetesen anyagiakkal és építő jellegű programokkal,továbbtanulási lehetőséggel támogatva a helyieket.a hosszas tevékenység után björk okkal meghatva megjegyezte:"érdemes volt a sok fáradozás,ha ezt a sok hálás arcot nézem ezeken az értékes embereken,arra gondolok,mindenemet oda adnám értük!"
éés igen,ez itt a reklám helye...egyébként ugyancsak 2004ben megjelent björk army of mixes albuma,melyen a post szuperslágerének (army of me) különböző remixei lelhetők fel,elég hanyagolható,viszont annál jótékonyabb,hiszen az album megvásárlásával te is támogatod a szegényeket,ugyanis az egész bevételt a unicef alapítvány kapja jótékony célokra.

Grisbi is a French electro-pop band composed of Natasha (vocals) and Antoine (guitars, machines). Seduced by the Bjork army, they reworked the song in a quiet, almost bossa nova style which seemed appropriate for the UNICEF project. They are currently working on their first album, for release in June.

From Malmö in Sweden, 50hertz have released "lille tangos tjocke album" and several internet releases. Their new full length album is entitled "Gemenskap och mänsklig värdighet fuck you". S lagsmålsklubben have released the full length albums "Den svenske disco”, and their latest “Sagan om konungens årsinkomst” and "Kasta sten EP" is scheduled for late summer. Häxor och porr has just released “Mayday, Mayday! Hallå, Hallå?” They first made the music when very drunk and in the middle of the night. They called their friend little tango to sing the chorus. She was at another party so they hooked up at about 4 am in the morning to record the vocals. The whole song was recorded in one night/morning. They consider Björk to be the artist with “the most highly rated integrity” and thought “she would never release anything she didn't like. So this album has a quality guarantee that spells b-j-ö-r-k.”

The Messengers of God formed in late 2003, bursting onto the Brixton scene with their dark lyrics and harmonious country sound. Initially the Messengers began when lead guitarist ‘Long-Haired’ Johnny Graffham, fed up with stifling side roles in other people’s bands, decided to express his talent in his own way. He joined friend Dave ‘the Hat’ McGowan, with his wordy ways and baritone voice, to create the original essence of what was to become the Messengers. The duo soon found Andy Ireland (although Eddie Real features on Army of Me) current drummer for Shane MacGowan and the Popes and last known sticksman with the legendary Flowered Up. The original banjo player left for Canada to lecture students on the subject of pain, leaving adequate space for present banjo player Brendan O’Connell to contribute his great song writing skills to the already empathetic and melodic lyrics of Dave and Johnny. A musically versatile and talented man, Bren plays both four and five string banjo, whilst taking his hand to guitar, mandolin and cuatro as well as providing the sound of a sweet, frail backing vocal. By now Johnny had begun hotting it up on the pedal steel front using his metal engineering skills to add parts of a gas cooker, motorbike and pushbike to enhance the instrument’s unique sound. The bass guitar player is a young and handsome man Arthur Bassingham, veteran live player and graduate of the Academy of Contemporary Music. Violin player Dimtri van Zwanenberg has been on the fiddle from the age of eight and a street performer since he was eleven. Former leader of acrobatic string quartet to the posh, Bebeto, he has also appeared and recorded with Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds as well as the Tindersticks. The most recent addition to the band is accordion player Jason Meherin. Previously with the late, fabulous Lowfinger his gentle tones underpin the Messengers sound perfectly. When you encase all these elements in a wrapper of dark poetic lyrics you are left with a fantastic band in possession of a distinct London worldview. The band continues to take the city in their stride, and two years down the line have gained much ground. With a startling 200 people in attendance at their first ever gig, one lazy Sunday evening in Brixton, their fan base only continues to grow at an alarming rate. By their fourth gig they had already received live radio coverage, featuring in Johnny Brown’s Mining for Gold on London’s hip station Resonance 104.4fm. They have supported the Alabama 3 at Cabot Hall and managed to perform at nearly all London venues on the country circuit. With at least two albums worth of original material behind them, but currently without a manager, the boys are now looking to broaden their horizons.

Syntax’n’Turbo (Tom Haines/Chris Branch) have just released their first 7" - Pling Pling (turbocore records) and are currently working with vocalist Simon Bookish, amongst other artists (Turbo has just finished mixing Simon's debut single for Tomlab - Metal Horse). Their film and TV music is released by Sony BMG. They collaborated with musician/writer Rivethead (Pascal Wyse) in order to bring the world “some much needed electro-morris”.

A UK musician and filmmaker, Martin White plays accordion in the band Scarlet’s Well and appears regularly on Popjustice.com presenting accordion versions of cosntemporary chart hits. An album of his own compositions for solo accordion is to be released later this year on the Kabukikore label. When Björk announced this album for UNICEF it was suggested to him that he showed support by submitting his interpretation of ‘Army Of Me’. He is “delighted to be a part of the project.”

Dr. Gunni is Icelandic and has been playing music since 1979 in such bands as Unun, S.H.Draumur and Bless. He has also worked on solo material during this time. His last solo album was "Stori hvellur" (Smekkleysa 2003). Surfing the web he saw Bjork’s announcement for the Unicef compilation and immediately made his version on his raw computer “studio” because there was nothing on TV. Dr. Gunni is also the author of the Icelandic rock manual, a music quiz show TV host and the author of a popular children’s song “The Farting People”.

HEMP come from Lyon in France. In 1999, singer Nicolas Place (aka Sarro) formed a trio with Giovanni Augusti (bass) and Loran Ongaro (drums). Soon needing a second guitar, they were joined by Jean-Michel Zanetti (aka JMZ). HEMP was more a musical project than an official band so never released anything under this name, but Sarro and JMZ did several events for French audiences (check www.tomi-prod.com for info). They recorded this version in August 1999 at Sarro's studio. They played the basic tracks "live", then overdubbed the vocals and added some guitar tracks. JMZ remixed the track especially for the "Army of Me" project. Being Bjork fanatics, and loving "Army Of Me", they recorded this cheap version and it stayed on the shelf for almost 6 years. Hearing about the project, they wondered if it was "Maybe a sign of Destiny ?". HEMP does not now exist anymore as a band, but Sarro and JMZ often make sounds together.

Lunamoth is a London-based collective fronted by harpist & composer Tom Moth. Lunamoth came into existence in 1999 after Tom had been a member of the rock band Tearso, and they released their well-received debut single "Squirrels...Yeah!" through Big Square Records in 2003. The version of "Army Of Me" was recorded in order to ‘purge various inner demons’. Lunamoth are currently working on new original material and various re-mixes.

Having written and produced instrumental pieces for short films, “Army Of Me” marks the official debut of British songwriter Baker as a vocalist. The track was recorded in Bath, England following the call to arms on bjork.com in February 2005. "After many more elaborate attempts to interpret the song, I decided to try to convey the emotion I had felt following the tsunami using the barest of fragments from the original." A great admirer of Bjork and her work, Baker is currently writing and recording material for a forthcoming album.

Born in Coventry, Random is the brainchild of Leon Hopper, and guest guitarist Phil Arnold. Low tech sound mayhem is produced utilizing a Playstation 2 music program. Random’s sound varies from ambient to drum ‘n’ bass to hardcore as demonstrated by previous demo EP’s. One song made airplay on London’s Xfm and the demo EP ‘The Storm Inside’ featuring ‘Army of Me’ got a positive review (7/10) in Rock Sound. The song was contributed as it offered a great opportunity and aided a positive cause.

The Danish electronica-collective is working with minimalistic electronic soundscapes; a mixture of electronic beats of digital and acoustic noise and sound from real classical acoustic instruments. Atoi play and improvise their way to the final work. Except from the cover of “Army Of Me”, the vocal featured in Atoi’s music is in a universal “gibberish”, which gives the listener room for free musical interpretation. Atoi has not previously released any of their music. Emil Assing Høyer, the producer of Atoi, learned about the Army Of Me project on the internet and found it very appealing. He immediately started composing the new version of the Björk track in Atoi’s signature style. Soon after help and musical assistance came from the Atoi members: Ida Cæcilie Rasmussen (vocals), and Joel Gjærsbøll Pedersen (guitar and synth-bas) on the track. In a few days a cover version was done and sent from the Copenhagen studio.

Ricardo Gutierrez and Rebecca Louie both grew up in New York City (he’s from Brooklyn; she’s from Queens). R.Luvbeats recorded the “liquid riot mix” in Ricardo’s cramped closet, because tragedy sucks and inaction sucks more. They ate a delicious thin crust pizza, with pepperoni and mushrooms, for energy.

Alfredo Lietor Rosales was born in Jaén, a small town in the south of Spain, but has lived in Madrid for more than 12 years. Interested in music since he was a child, he played "laud" and keyboards from 13 years old, but it was when he got his first computer that he started to make his own music. In 2003 he started a project with two friends, VivaJacuzzi <vivajacuzzi.com> a creative bunch where they do “whatever they want” - photography, design, fashion music... and it´s there he publishes/releases his music. The track “Army of Me Pink Battle Mash Up” was produced with an old computer. The idea was to replace Bjork´s voice with a talking computer. He used a feature for visually impaired people that can read any text file, copying Army of Me lyrics into it and recorded them. After editing and mixing these "vocals" he tried to mix in some rhythm patterns but then realized that the voices fitted really well with a Soft Pink Truth´s track to which he was listening a lot at that moment, so he decided to make a Mash Up. When he saw the project in Bjork´s website he thought it would be really nice to get involved, and not only to collaborate with an artist he has “loved since a long time, but also, and what´s more important, to try to help other people.” |

Patrick Wolf is 21 years old and from London. His first release was an E.P at the age of 19 and since then he has released two “critically-acclaimed” albums, "Lycanthropy" documenting his teenage turbulence with white noise, folk songs, werewolves, strings, uncompromising lyrics, and more recently, "Wind in the Wires", which is his more developed step into adulthood: a love song to the English winter, grand pianos, sea birds, electricity and the West Country. Patrick is a classically-trained viola player and composer-turned- pop singer / songwriter. Patrick was first possessed by Klaus Nomi at the Kilbi festival in Switzerland when he was invited to sing with Chicks on Speed when one of their members, Melissa, was on pregnancy leave. His "Army of Klaus" remix was a chance for Patrick to pay tribute to two people he has held in high regard for a long time, Bjork and Nomi. The track mixes an old sample from the days when Wolf used to carry a dictaphone around with him of Bjork singing at the Union Chapel, mixed in with Patrick singing in “Klaus possession mode” while banging away on a harpsichord, reed organ and various loud war-like percussive instruments - all mixed, programmed and cut up on a computer in his new little studio. As it was a spontaneous, last minute affair, the whole thing took only a few hours to complete.

Tor Bruce is a seventeen-year-old boy from Göteborg in Sweden. This is his first release. He has programmed sweet sounds to convert “Army of Me” into happy synthetic steel-pan pop with an energetic appeal and a punky edge. His music is the logical outcome of plugging a pair of speakers into a pack of cherry flavoured Pez.
